About this archive
NC Jay was a shortwave broadcast (SWBC) enthusiast who spent decades chasing signals across the HF bands — international broadcasters, clandestine stations, utility and telecom channels, pirates, and the occasional complete mystery catch.
Before he passed, he entrusted these recordings to me (nomadiq, ScottR, k6aus) with the hope that they might someday be shared with the broader radio community. I did not know at the time he was sick and only after his passing did I realize why he asked to upload these files to a server I had. Anyway, this site is that promise kept: a browsable memorial archive of his work from the late 1960s through the early 2000s.
Each MP3 is named in classic DXer style: YYYYMMDD-HHMM-frequency-station. Frequencies are in kHz. Times are UTC unless noted otherwise in the filename. Many clips are short IDs, interval signals, or fleeting openings — the raw thrill of HF, preserved.
The Satellite Captures tab holds downlink screenshots and other satellite images from the collection — visual companions to the audio.
